In celebration of Women’s History Month, we honor CMC’s innovative founder Doris Iklé.

Doris was a highly recognized economist who believed the best way to address the energy crisis the country was experiencing in the mid-70’s was to cut waste and drive energy efficiency. She created CMC Energy Services in 1977 and was a pioneer, serving as one of the very few women in the energy efficiency sector.

She devoted her life to this cause, convincing households, businesses, utilities and governments that it was in their economic interest to save energy. Through her intelligence, optimism and passion, she grew CMC Energy contract by contract.

Doris passed away in 2012 and ownership of the company was transferred to her two daughters who continue to honor their mother’s legacy.
