To start the new year we spotlight Key Fox, Marketing Manager from our Pennsylvania office. Key is a valuable part of the marketing team. Let’s take some time to learn more about Key!
Provide some quick background about yourself.
I was born in Abington, Pennsylvania, and raised in Stockton, New Jersey along the Delaware River. In 2011, I received my bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications, with a minor in graphic design from Ithaca College in New York.
Shortly after college, I fell in love with traveling, cooking and all things food. So much so that I traveled to Florence, Italy after I graduated to teach English to Italian children. Because of that experience, my favorite activities are anything in the kitchen and anything dealing with food. Dining out, cooking and baking myself, no matter if it’s sweet or savory, simple or elaborate – I love it all.
Growing up, my parents were incredible cooks – but I’d say my Dad was a bit more adventurous and creative in the kitchen, a bit more “cheffy”. The passion he and my mom had for hosting, entertaining and cooking was instilled in my siblings and me at a very young age (I’m the youngest of four). Now, I get to do these fun and delicious things with my amazing husband, which has offered the most special experiences. Making dishes from recipes, or creating things based on instinct or experimentation is my favorite activity. Knowing you made your guests happy by something you created is the best.
Prior to joining CMC, what did you know about energy efficiency or the industry? What made you join CMC?
Before I joined CMC, I was in a completely different field, so my knowledge of the energy efficiency industry was limited. I came from hospitality and events (weddings, corporate events, etc.) where I was a sales coordinator, designer and marketer. I wore many hats! I wanted to join CMC to focus on marketing and graphic design skills full-time. To be able to do these roles has helped me hone my marketing skillset and at the same time immersed me in a new industry filled with so much important information and helpful knowledge.
What motivates you about the work that you do?
Being part of a company that truly cares about its employees, its clients and their customers’ well-being. It means so much to be surrounded by kind people, managers, and teammates who support you and want you to succeed. It truly is a great motivator and driving force day in and day out.
What was a recent personal or team “win” (project or initiative) that went well and/or you are proud of?
A recent personal win was receiving a call from our client PPL to applaud my work ethic and presentation skills when leading a recent meeting with a larger group. The kind words and feedback meant a lot and made me feel confident about the good work I’ve been doing for their program.
Another recent team win is increasing the call center volume due to increased marketing efforts in tandem with improved response rates from email campaigns. To help move the needle feels great!
What do you do for fun? Do you have any hidden talents or interests?
Besides cooking, experimenting in the kitchen and spending time with family and friends, my husband and I love to spend time with our rescue puppy and rescue kitten. We enjoy hiking in the Wissahickon, kayaking all over, renovating our house, tending our vegetable garden and going to the beach or fishing.
As for my hidden talents, although I haven’t put brush to canvas in a long time, I love to paint (oils and watercolors mostly) and hope to start again this year. I am also passionate about playing sports. Up until the pandemic, I was playing in an adult field hockey league and loved every moment of it. Our group hasn’t gotten together since 2019, but hopefully, something will get moving in 2024. I miss playing so much!
Do you have any plans for the next few months, holidays, vacations, etc.?
2023 was a busy year between family events, weddings and a delayed honeymoon for my husband and me. Over the next few months, we are looking forward to taking a step back, relaxing and just enjoy being home together. This summer we’ll make time for the beach and trips to my family’s camphouse on Lake Champlain in Vermont.
