CMC achieves success for PECO Smart Ideas C&I program

Challenge

  • To deliver large-scale energy-efficiency savings, over 500GWhs, for the PECO Smart Equipment Incentives Commercial and Industrial (C&I) program. Savings were achieved across multiple market segments and from projects of various sizes, technologies and solutions.

Solution

  • To encourage customers to pursue a comprehensive set of energy-efficiency measures for retrofit and new construction projects including but not limited to lighting, HVAC and controls, water heating, compressed air, refrigeration, and process upgrades
  • To develop and engage their network of trade Allies to increase program participation

Critical Success Factors

  • Coordinate efforts among PECO Marketing, Program and Account Managers as well as the prime contractor, DNV GL

Program Implementation

  • Engaged customers through rigorous direct outreach calls to identify project opportunities
  • Provided outreach and sales training to contractors and consultants
  • Assisted customers and contractors with the application process
  • Promoted incentive-eligible equipment through OEMs and suppliers
  • Planned to coordinated series of association, networking and marketing events for customers and service providers

Results

  • Successfully achieved energy savings goals, establishing PECO Smart Ideas as the most successful suite of utility-run, energy-efficiency programs in Pennsylvania
  • Solidified the Trade Ally and association outreach strategy as a viable channel for delivering large-scale energy-efficiency program results
  • Enhanced the capability of more than 2,500 Trade Allies and contractors to effectively promote the benefits of energy efficiency and advance the market for high-efficiency equipment and solutions throughout PECO’s service territory
