Although the winter Olympics in China finished earlier this year, CMC’s New Jersey team borrowed the concept for a highly competitive Weatherization Olympics last month. Teams of three competed on August 5 in a timed competition of:

  • Gas leak detection
  • Blower Door setup
  • Building a program-compliant dryer vent

The winning team was composed of Roniel Pipit, Tom Allen and Donovan Stewart, who each received a $25 gift card and—more important—bragging rights for the coming year. Each team had to complete each station before they could move to the next.

“Our Weatherization Department took a day off from the summer heat to have a fun day of events for the techs and office staff,” said Anthony Tortomasi, Field Operations Manager. “The day included food and drinks, games and team building. It was a great opportunity for our field staff to interact with office staff and build team moral.”

Unlike the Olympics, the event was so successful that it will become an annual event. As an added bonus, this year’s “Weatherization Olympics” winners will have the opportunity to choose next year’s events.
