We are excited to welcome the arrival of Shannon Brooks, CMC’s new vice president of operations. Let’s take a minute to learn about Shannon’s professional history, her family and her favorite activities.

Tell us a little bit about your professional background.
My background spans more than 20 years in various operational leadership capacities including customer-facing, back-office, field and many other shared support functions. I like to think of my career in three key buckets – gas utilities, non-regulated home warranty and field service and consulting (with my own former independent businesses and as an employee of a Big 4 firm).
I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented and creative individuals to enhance various operations even in some of the most challenging circumstances, including rapid growth, business shrinkage, consolidation, decentralization and major technology changes.
I have learned so much along my journey and truly believe with the right focus and commitment, all teams can accomplish greatness. I am most proud of the relationships I have made, the people I have helped develop and mentor, and the business transformations I had the pleasure of leading and being a part of.

What interests you the most about CMC and its vision and values?
So much! The fact that CMC was developed with a vision and mission that has been nurtured and developed over decades into the company it is today, is purely fantastic and just a wonderful story of evolution. I am excited to join such a talented organization and collaborate to enhance CMC’s focus on efficient operations and growth. With so many utility companies and customers focused on comfort and affordability, CMC is well-positioned for continued greatness, and I am happy to be along for the journey.
What do you do with your free time?
I am a family gal and my children, daughter, Sierra, 22, and son, Brandon, 16, have always been active with competitive sports, so when I am not cheering them on, I am spending time with my husband attending comedy shows, concerts, binge watching our favorite shows and traveling. We have a one-year-old Schnoodle, Bruno, that we spoil rotten. I also have many family and friends in Illinois including three sisters I visit when I can.

Do you have any hidden talents you’d like to share?
I consider myself a fantastic “organizer.” I find great enjoyment and therapy in detailed cleaning, organizing and finding easier ways to keep things functional in homes, garages, basements and anywhere else I can find. While dancing is not necessarily a talent of mine, it is something I have always done and enjoyed. I have a good eye for artistic talents like dance and gymnastics.
As a sports-crazy company, what teams do you support?
Da’ Bears! Born, raised and educated in Illinois, I am a fan of Chicago teams. The Bulls, the Bears and if I must choose a baseball team, the White Sox.
