The first Employee Spotlight of 2023 highlights Sharon Burch, Program Manager in our New Jersey office. Take a few minutes to learn all about our teammate Sharon!
Can you provide me with some quick background about yourself? Where were you born or raised? Any education/degrees/certs? Favorite hobby or activity, if you have one.
I was born in Puerto Rico, moved to Florida as an infant then returned to Puerto Rico until 1998. I studied Communications and Marketing and have a bachelor’s degree in Communications. When I was younger, my hobbies included kayaking, rock climbing and scuba diving. For the past 10 years, my hobby has been being my son’s biggest fan in the two sports he plays (lacrosse and hockey). My husband and I spend our weekends (and some weekday evenings) traveling with him to watch him play the sports he loves. I have an older sister who lives in Florida and a younger brother who lives in Virginia.
Prior to joining CMC, what did you know about energy efficiency or the industry? What made you join CMC?
I did not know a lot about energy efficiency. I have always been conscious of conserving energy in my home; however, I did not know all the different things that entailed. I first learned about CMC from Michael Sanjek and later met Leila Banihani. After speaking to them about the company and understanding the mission of CMC, I knew this was a group I would enjoy being a part of.
What motivates you about the work that you do?
My motivation comes from the services provided in each home we visit. There are so many people looking for ways to save energy and save money. The solutions and education we offer to our consumers motivate our team. It’s work with a purpose.
What do you like about the work that you do at CMC?
I really enjoy working with our team – every single person on our team is dedicated to creating a positive and memorable experience for each customer they visit. I see the work that we are doing as impactful to each customer’s bottom line.
What do you do for fun? Do you have any hidden talents or interests?
I am very involved with my son’s sports teams. I have worked as a Board member for the Lawrence Lacrosse team for the past five years and I recently became the Team Manager for my son’s hockey team. (I’m not quite sure how that one happened!) I really enjoy being able to support the kids and the parents. Our favorite activity as a family is being at the beach and enjoying water sports, at our favorite spot, the Outer Banks, N.C.
Do you have any plans for the next few months, vacations, etc.?
The next couple of months should be somewhat quiet. We are planning a weekend trip to Lake Placid, N.Y.
