December’s Employee Spotlight features Nancy Poulimenos, Customer Service Representative III, working out of our New Jersey location. Let’s take a few minutes and learn about our teammate Nancy.
Provide some quick background about yourself. Where were you born or raised?
I was born in Yonkers, New York, a first-generation Greek American. When I was eight, we moved to New Jersey. I went to school for interior design and real estate, and currently, I am a licensed realtor. I first got into this field to start flipping houses. I’ve been happily married for 11 years and have two children, a boy and a girl.
Prior to joining CMC, what did you know about energy efficiency or the industry? What made you join CMC?
Before joining CMC, I worked in banking and retail. I’ve been in customer service my entire career getting an early start at 12 working at my mom and dad’s luncheonette.
Joining CMC was a no-brainer for me, as it offered me an opportunity to build a career, rather than just having a job. CMC offered opportunities for growth.
What motivates you about the work that you do?
There is a saying, “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” I really enjoy working for CMC and feel like what we do is important. CMC makes you feel valued and wants to see all of us succeed and grow within the company.
What do you like about the work that you do at CMC?
My favorite part about CMC is the people. My colleagues and management make it feel like a family. It’s not just like any other company. What can be better than that?
What do you do for fun? Do you have any hidden talents or interests?
I love watching Dateline and anything investigative. I must have the TV on at night to one of those investigation channels to help me fall asleep.
I also love being creative and love to needlepoint, craft and do jigsaw puzzles. My family and I have started a jigsaw puzzle collection, containing all the puzzles we completed during the lockdown.
Do you have any plans for the next few months, vacations, etc?
My husband and kids are avid skiers. I’m still learning, but we have several trips planned for winter, including a ski trip to Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, NY. During the summer, we love to go to Lake Placid and just relax, hike and spend quality time together. I also am planning a trip within the next couple of years to visit family in Greece.
