Join us as we officially enter summer and spotlight Customer Care Manager, Michael Schaeffer. Let’s learn more about Michael’s hobbies, family and home life.

Provide some quick background about yourself. Where were you born or raised? Any education/degrees/certs? Favorite hobby or activity, if you have one.
I was born in Abington, PA, and raised in Northeast Philadelphia until I graduated high school. I joined CMC in 2018 and previously worked as a manager for multiple Walmart locations for more than ten years. In my off time, my family and I enjoy being outside, taking walks, playing basketball and sitting down for family dinners and game nights.

Prior to joining CMC, what did you know about energy efficiency or the industry? What made you join CMC?
Before CMC, I did not have any experience in this industry. After reading about CMC’s purpose and mission, I knew it was the right place for me. Being able to assist people and help them save energy and money is very rewarding.

Michael’s family.

What motivates you about the work that you do?
My family. Over the last year, my stepson has been diagnosed with epilepsy and my wife has been out of work to help with all his appointments and needs. It’s been difficult at times to manage, but we get through it together. It drives me every single day to make sure I can provide a good home and happy life for my family.

What was a recent personal or team “win” (project or initiative) that went well and/or you are proud of?
Recently, the PPL team set a record for completed appointments with more than 1,000 in April. The entire team has worked very hard over the last year with collaboration between operations and customer care. Additionally, the implementation of Salesforce 2.0 has played a large role in the success.

What do you do for fun? Do you have any hidden talents, hobbies or interests?
For fun, I enjoy spending time with our boys watching them play various sports, being their coach and taking our dogs for walks. As a family, we enjoy watching the Phillies, Sixers and Eagles provide joy and heartbreak. In the mid 2000’s (and much less often now), I was an avid poker player spending many days and nights in Atlantic City.

Do you have any plans for the next few months, summer vacations, etc.?
For the summer, we plan to take day trips to the beach, amusement parks and the local pool. We look forward to seeing friends and family we haven’t gotten to see in a while. Finally, hopefully, we’ll have a World Series parade to attend this fall.
