Mario Cancassi, a Field Operations Manager with CMC Energy in New Jersey, was born in Manhattan, New York, lived in the Bronx for a short time and was raised in Deer Park, Long Island. Mario is a huge New York Giants fan and enjoys golfing, fishing, spending time with his son and daughter and exercising five days a week to stay healthy.
He has multiple certifications in Energy Efficiency. He is a LEED Green Associate, has Infrared Thermal Imaging certifications, he’s a US Green Building Council Member, has a certification in the Project Management Plus Program and is a New York State Home Inspector.
Prior to joining CMC, what did you know of energy efficiency or the industry?
Prior to working in the industry, I was a home inspector, and realized the many inefficiencies that existed in the homes and that led me on the path to working in the energy efficiency industry.
What made you join CMC?
I was working with Willdan in Manhattan on a National Grid small business pilot, CMC had a position open in the residential sector and as a home inspector it was a great fit for me.
What do you like about the work that you do at CMC?
It has a great sense of being very rewarding to know that I am a part of an energy efficiency solution that will potentially have a positive effect on the future.
What do you do for fun? Do you have any hidden talents or interests?
I have a passion for cooking! My Dad had a restaurant years ago and that is where my interest in cooking began. I also love traveling. My favorite location to visit is the Caribbean, and I am looking forward to visiting Europe sometime soon.
Besides work, how are you keeping busy during our “stay at home” period?
During this challenging time with COVID, I have been using my work out equipment that I have at home. It has been really helpful in allowing me to continue my workout routine and has helped pass the time and keep me positive during COVID.
