This month we spotlight Ileana Pena, Customer Care Representative for our PSEG Call Center. Let’s take a minute to learn about Ileana, her family and how she got to CMC. Take it away Ileana!
Please provide some quick background about yourself. Where were you born or raised? Any education/degrees/certs? Favorite hobby or activity, if you have one.
I was born and raised in a town called Fajardo, located on the east coast of Puerto Rico. My parents’ house is about 10 minutes from the beach, and I absolutely love my culture, the music and food!
I’m the youngest of four siblings. We moved to the United States in 2012, and I now live with my husband, daughter and two dogs in South Jersey. I also have a Puerto Rican real estate broker’s license and work as a tax specialist during tax seasons.
Prior to joining CMC, what did you know of energy efficiency or the industry? What made you join CMC?
I lost my job at my previous company during the pandemic and decided to dedicate some time to our daughter. My husband started working at CMC in 2022 and advised me of the job opportunities available. He encouraged me to apply, and long-story-short, we are now part of the CMC family!
What motivates you about the work that you do?
I love helping people and I’m a big fan of protecting our planet and caring for the environment. This job allows me to achieve both.
What was a recent personal or team “win” (project or initiative) that went well and/or you are proud of?
I work with a great team. We have each other’s back and are very supportive. Seeing that we reach and exceed our team goals every month makes me very proud.
What do you do for fun? Do you have any hidden talents, hobbies or interests?
In the summer, I enjoy being at the pool with my family and/or friends. I love reading a good book, singing Karaoke in the coziness of our living room or having a movie night with the family.
I also like to travel, both abroad and to other states. My husband has converted me into a baseball fan so that is something we enjoy watching together. We recently visited the Minnesota Twins Target Field and got the opportunity to meet several of the staff and players like Carlos Correa and José Miranda.
Do you have any plans for the next few months, summer vacations, etc?
We spent the holidays in Puerto Rico with our family. We are also planning to take our daughter to Disney this year to celebrate her 10th birthday.
