FORT WASHINGTON, PA (August 31, 2022) – Do you remember where you were on October 13, 1977? On that day, CMC Energy Services was founded with the simple goal of helping people save energy and money. Now, almost 45 years later, CMC’s impact has grown, contributing to not only lowering customer bills but also to achieving energy efficiency, climate and social equity goals. And, we’ve helped to create hundreds of living-wage jobs for CMC team members over the years. Through the years, CMC also has:

  • Helped a Lot of Families—CMC has eased the financial burden for more than 600,000 customers, helping them cut their bills by as much as 25 percent.
  • Saved Businesses Big Bucks—Through the utility programs we support, commercial and industrial companies have saved more than 1.2 million MWh of electricity.
  • Beat the Odds—Roughly 45 percent of all new businesses fail before their fifth anniversary. Here CMC is celebrating its 45th year!

“On behalf of myself and my sister, Judith, I’m humbled by the trust and opportunity our utility partners have provided CMC Energy Services,” said Mimi Iklé-Khalsa, the co-owner of CMC and the daughter of founder Doris Iklé. “It’s their continued confidence in CMC and the part we play in making life more affordable for their residential customers and more profitable for their business customers that makes me feel lucky to carry on my mother’s legacy.”

During its nearly 45-year history, CMC has secured 100+ utility contracts for 35+ utility and government clients. Today, CMC annually completes more than 50,000 in-home energy assessments, CMC handles more than 400,000 inbound and outbound calls annually on behalf of the various programs it supports for utilities throughout the nation. CMC and our partners have helped reduce CO2 emissions by an average of 190 million pounds annually. That’s equivalent to removing the annual emissions of nearly 41 million gas-fueled passenger cars. Or, removing the annual emissions used to create the electricity for nearly 37 million homes.

“CMC’s history is rich with stories of how we’ve positively impacted customers’ lives,” said CMC President & CEO Tina Bennett. “This anniversary is really an opportunity for CMC to re-commit to our mission and focus on how we can help create a more livable, equitable and sustainable planet for all. We are looking forward to working with our partners to continue serving and supporting customers with increased affordability, energy savings and a commitment to cutting greenhouse gas emissions to ensure a brighter future for all.”
