CMC continually pushes to increase awareness in organizational safety best practices and policies. To help this effort Megan Brady, safety and benefits manager, Katie Consales, QA manager/safety Coordinator in New Jersey, and Lindsay Nydegger, program support supervisor at the Arsenal location, attended The National Safety Council’s (NSC) Annual Workshop in Orlando, Florida.
The team divided and conquered to cover the most sessions possible, some of which included:
- The Best Safety Message Ever Told
- Safety Made to Stick
- Complacency in the Workplace
- How a “new” view of safety improves “old” safety programs
There were many great takeaways from the conference including increasing safety awareness through personal storytelling, engagement opportunities and feedback sessions.
If you want to hear a story that will inspire you, Google the NSC keynote speaker, Erik Weihenmayer, a blind athlete who has climbed the seven summits, kayaked the Grand Canyon and much more.
His message is important as it centers around the idea that anything is possible with the right team. It takes a lot of preparation, research and practice. The goal is to believe that what’s inside you is stronger than what’s standing in your way.
Finally, a NEW CMC Safety Committee will be launching soon! Stay tuned and don’t hesitate to send your ideas, questions or safety topics/stories to mbrady@cmcenergy.com.
