CMC announced last month the addition of Joe Prusik as senior director for Program Delivery in New Jersey. In an effort to welcome Joe and become more familiar with his background, we’ve provided a spotlight all about Joe.

Joe Prusik, senior director for Program Delivery in New Jersey

Can you tell us a little bit about your professional background?
I am an industrial engineer, have an MBA and my CEM certification.  I have been in the energy efficiency business for more than 30 years as either an employee or contractor at my previous employer PSE&G.  During my tenure there, I was involved with just about every energy efficiency or demand side management program. I also helped launch PSE&G’s first solar loan program and I managed the PSE&G Standard Offer Program, a true performance-based program for many years. This was a $1 billion program. It was mainly for commercial and industrial (C&I ) customers, but also had a significant residential portfolio as well. I also managed the demand response program with more than 100,000 control points.

How did you learn about CMC Energy Services?
I have worked with CMC for probably more than 20 years and have always admired the company and its employee work ethic. It’s been my experience that CMC always strives to do the right thing for their clients and employees.

What interests you the most about CMC and its vision and values?
All the CMC values resonate with me. The company is truly committed to helping others and the environment. I have seen that commitment while working with CMC throughout the years. This commitment to helping others is especially important for many of the low- and moderate-income (LMI) customers we serve. The services we provide help reduce the cost of energy and that can have a big impact on LMI customers.

AJ, Joe and Tracy

What do you do with your free time?
My top love is to spend time with my family. I have two children, son AJ (27) and a daughter Tracy (23). My wife of 26 years passed away from breast cancer a little over 4 years ago. I sponsor a scholarship in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School every year in her honor.  Secondly, I like to keep my hands busy. (Idle hands are the devil’s work, LOL!) I love to tinker on my car or around the house.

Do you have any hidden talents you’d like to share?
I can fix just about anything. My daughter put it best, “if my Dad can’t fix it, it’s garbage.” My other talent that I’m proud of is that I’m a fairly accomplished self-taught backyard mechanic. I’ve rebuilt carburetors, engines, transmissions, painted and have even welded a few things over the years. Aside from my 1979 Trans Am, I have probably taken our vehicles to a mechanic maybe five times over the last 30+ years. Yes, I change my own engine oil!

As a sports crazy company, what teams do you support?
I’m not the biggest sports fan, but the Giants are my football team.
