Did you know that if your family’s combined gross annual income is below the state’s 60 percent income median, you may qualify for assistance to help pay your heating bills this winter?
Thanks to CEAP – the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program – you could be eligible for benefits that will lighten the load and keep your family warm and safe in the coming months.
Here are some CEAP basics to get you started.
- What is CEAP?
CEAP is a federal assistance program designed to help offset the winter heating costs of Connecticut’s lower income households – specifically those households whose income falls at or below 60 percent of the state median income. - Who funds CEAP?
CEAP is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Block Grant. The Connecticut Department of Social Services administers CEAP, in collaboration with its partners, Community Action Agencies across the state. - I am a renter. Can I still apply for CEAP?
Yes – both homeowners and renters may apply for a CEAP grant. - When does CEAP provide benefits?
The Connecticut CEAP program is available from November 1st through April 30th each year. - What are the income requirements to receive CEAP benefits?
