Thanks to CEAP – the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program – you could be eligible for benefits that will lighten the load and keep your family warm and safe in the coming months.

Here are some CEAP basics to get you started.

1. What is CEAP?
   CEAP is a federal assistance program designed to help offset the winter heating costs of Connecticut’s lower income households – specifically those households whose income falls at or below 60 percent of the state median income.
2. Who funds CEAP?
   CEAP is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Block Grant. The Connecticut Department of Social Services administers CEAP, in collaboration with its partners, Community Action Agencies across the state.
3. I am a renter. Can I still apply for CEAP?
   Yes – both homeowners and renters may apply for a CEAP grant.
4. When does CEAP provide benefits?
   The Connecticut CEAP program is available from November 1st through April 30th each year.
5. What are the income requirements to receive CEAP benefits?
   In order to qualify, you must have an annual household income (before taxes) that is below the following amounts:

   1	$17,820
   2	$24,030
   3	$30,240
   4	$36,450
   5	$42,660
   6	$48,870
   7	$55,095
   8	$61,335

   *For households with more than eight people, add $6,240 per additional person. Always check with the appropriate managing agency to ensure the most accurate guidelines.

6. I currently receive SSI benefits. Am I still eligible to apply for CEAP?
   Yes. A person who participates or has family members who participate in certain other benefit programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or certain needs-tested Veterans benefits may be automatically eligible.
7. How can I apply for CEAP benefits?
   To apply, please contact your local Community Action Agency.
