CMC identified energy efficient equipment improvements which resulted in a substantial savings

The Challenge

  • Identify ways to reduce the overall energy usage of High Bridge Elementary School in High Bridge, NJ
  • Improve the health, safety and learning environment of the school facilities for students and staff

The Solution

  • Utilizing New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program Direct Install program offerings, the CMC team was able to implement energy efficient equipment upgrades for the school, covering nearly 70% of the project cost

Program Implementation

  • Energy Efficient Lighting Retrofits:
    • Interior LED Lighting
    • Interior and Exterior Fixture Replacements
  • Energy Efficient Heating and Cooling Upgrades:
    • Three High-Efficiency Rooftop HVAC Units
  • HVAC Controls:
    • Dual Enthalpy & Fuel-Use Economizers
    • Programmable Thermostats
    • Low-Flow Aerators

Critical Success Factors

  • By participating in the NJ Clean Energy Direct Install program, the school is realizing an annual energy savings of approximately $22,000, which they plan to use towards other capital improvements, including a new roof
  • With the incentives provided through the NJ Direct Install program, the project payback was reduced to 1.8 years

Results

  • Annual energy savings of 177,215 kWh and 2,254 Therms
  • NJ Direct Install Incentives paid to the school of $94,576.62
